Australia is one of the largest countries in the world but it only has a population of just over twenty million people. Most major cities lie on the coast inlcuding Sydney, Melbourne, Darwin, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Brisbane. Aborigines inhabited the continent for the last few thousand years until European settlers arrived just over two hundred years ago. Australia's growing economy has made major trading and business links with nearby Asian countries including China and Hong Kong and no doubt this will continue.
